See you next year College Football

The defense performance tonight was the most brilliant I’ve ever seen in a Championship game. I am extremely proud of this Alabama defense and am proud to be their coach.

ROLL TIDE

BCS Championship: ALABAMA 21, LSU 0

If there was ever a championship game that truly showed who is the king of college football, this was it. Alabama’s offense was run smoothly and efficiently, led by AJ McCarron who looked like he was playing just another football game. The only touchdown of the game was a 33-yard run by Trent Richardson, who was greeted by a pumped up Mark Ingram, who Richardson sat behind while Ingram ran for a Heisman trophy in 2009. The defense, though, were the heroes of the game. The defense did nothing less then completely rip apart LSU’s offense. LSU crossed the 50-yard line once, and when they did the Crimson Tide defense forced a fumble. They had 98-yards of offense, a 2.8 average. When Alabama’s offense couldn’t score touchdowns, the defense were not frustrated; they just went out and destroyed the LSU’s offense and gave McCarron chance after chance. After having a Gatorade shower (without head-bashing), Nick Saban was asked what does this victory mean for the people of Tuscaloosa, who survived a terrible hurricane this year that destroyed homes and lives. To paraphrase Saban, he said that through this win, he hoped it would help the healing process of the people of Tuscaloosa. A taste of that could be seen in the French Quarter, where Crimson reigns supreme.

1st Half of BCS CHAMPIONSHIP, Jan. 9, 2011: LSU vs Alabama

With the first half done, the BCS Championship is being dominated by the Alabama Crimson Tide. AJ MCaraon, Quarterback for Alabama, has been throwing fantastic, even with his big play wide-reciever Maze injuring himself on a punt return. Oddly enough, Trent Richardson, the Heisman-finalist running-back for Alabam, has been mostly quiet other then a 15yd run. Field goals have once again been the way of scoring, with Alabama leading 9-0. LSU, on the other hand, has been mistake-ridden. With MCaraon burning them through the air, the defense is struggling, its only highlight being a blocked field goal. The offense has only 17 yards, and three times has LSU’S Quarterback Jordan Jefferson fumbled the snap and had to scramble to recover it. Jordan picked up most of those 17 yards with his feet. The only way that LSU can get back into this is if something big happens to spark them, like a sack or a punt return for a touchdown by the ever-furious Tryann Mathieu, aka “The Honey Badger. ” If they don’t, then its gonna be Roll-Tide all the way to the Coaches Trophy.

Babe Ruth (1895 - 1948) is, without question, the most famous player in the history of pro ball. But how did the legend earn the legendary nickname?

There are actually several stories that claim to explain the moniker, but the most likely involves a famous minor league recruiter named Jack Dunn, who noticed Ruth when he was 19 and signed young George to the Baltimore Orioles for $600. When Ruth showed up at training camp in 1914, another player is said to have called out, “here’s one of Dunnie’s babes.” The rest is baseball history.
